I think he is correct. Add a healthy helping of materialism as well. Traveled not long ago with a group which included many liberal reformed Jews. Many condemned the amount of gold in the Catholic Churches in South America, but spent a great deal of money buying jewelry.

Nothing more than the hypocrisy of people in general. I've seen people in Church sit piously in their pews on Sunday and go out and manipulate people in the workplace for gain and never turn a hair. Jews are people whose hearts are not always right with God. The shame is that so many of them latch onto the valueless material world and eschew God.

Decades ago, the sociographer Milton Himmelfarb coined the aphorism that "American Jews earn like Episcopalians and vote like Puerto Ricans." And his words ring as true today as ever. Surveys show that roughly 70 percent of American Jews intend to cast their ballots for President Barack Obama's reelection next month.

Himmelfarb's quip indicated that American Jews abjure their economic interests in favor of their liberal values. Certainly it is true that for American Jews to vote for Obama next month they must act against their economic interests.
