What’s So Bad about Sequestration?

The sorry gaggle of fools, charlatans and scoundrels who pretend to represent us in Congress don't have the courage to make spending cuts. The solution is for the Republicans in the House to "sequester" the entire Federal budget -- i,e., appropriate ZERO funding for every Federal agency, Then they can start the process of funding the government, item by item. Instead of considering cuts, the politicians should be forced to justify every nickel they spend. This is called zero-based budgeting, and it is the only way to control the ravenous, destructive monster the Federal government has become,

Yes, yes, 1000-TIMES-YES!!

Congress was INTENDED to spend most of its time scrutinizing details rather than passing blanket, all-you-can-eat budgets that require EVERYONE'S ABUSE to be included for passage.

Want to vote for a bridge to nowhere? Vote for it by itself. Want to send money to dictators overseas? Vote for that, on record. Want to pay some "artist" with taxes to urinate on a crucifix? Vote for that, by itself, on record. Always with no air cover from "hey, it was the best overall budget."

Lots of separate, ITEMIZED appropriations, ON RECORD. THAT is how priorities are to be managed. An amendment to this effect is a nice dream. Add to it that no single vote can appropriate more than number of dollars to which 1000 ounces of gold equates. (On the order of a billion dollars). Start each year with "First billion for NORAD, second billion for NORAD...") See who will stand up and oppose strategic defense as a top priority.

And by the way, when there's no support for more funding of something, the billion-dollar votes run out of support. No deal to get one side all it wants and get the other all it wants, crushing the taxpayer.

Hey, a man can dream...

The game in Washington continues.  Half-time is over and the players are back on the field.  Here we go again.  The Democrats have kicked off and it looks like the Republicans are trying to run it back.  Let’s see if this time they can play a little hardball.  Obama has got to play defense, let’s see where it goes.
