This is just smoke. Needing oil is NOT fundamentally just about driving smaller cars. Every manufacturing process requires energy, technology requires energy, hospitals require energy, recycling actually uses a lot of energy too. A SANE nation realizes that everything requires energy. The Left has a pie-in-the-sky concept of an ideal country where we all live in mansions like wealthy Democrats, but somehow we use horses and buggies, and spend our free time farming. We could be doing all sorts of things to develop multiple sources of our own fossil fuels and nuclear energy, but the Left is determined to block all of this. As our standard of living falls lower and lower, you should ask yourself if this is the way you want the US to be?

During the first-ever Federal Reserve press conference, Fed chair Ben Bernanke said the number of jobs in America was still 7 million behind the number of people employed when the recession began. When asked whether the Fed could do anything about long-term unemployment, Bernanke said the central bank has been fighting it with an aggressive monetary policy. But he admitted his crew operating out of the Eccles Building doesn't have any tools to make the long-term unemployed employable again.
