congratulations to the school board and parents in newtown. this latest development shows that someone is actually THINKING........doing some cause and effect analysis about the risk to the kids and what kind of alternatives exist to best protect them.
school resource officers do several things. among these is the potential dissuading of perps who might consider committing a heinous act because they now have to face an armed, trained adult. secondly it gives the kids an opportunity to learn about policing and to develop respect for the good that officers are trying to do. and finally, it provides immediate response to any given situation..........certainly the battalion of forces will show up. minimizing lost time = saved lives.

On a December day last year, a disturbed 20-year-old murdered his mother. He then drove to an elementary school where he killed 20 young children and six adults, reportedly using several firearms.
Something has to be done to stop this sort of massacre from happening again. If that is possible.
Or, according to some, something has to be done whether such prevention is possible or not.
So immediately politicians who had long supported gun control laws argued that the Newtown atrocity proved the need for those...
again..............way to go newtown. your deliberations and decisions are RIGHT ON!!!!
