You seem to lack the ability to comprehend the basics of the situation. If they utility doesn't agree to pay for the work, you don't start the job. If you aren't getting the job, you can't sit around on your own dime, you go home. Seems pretty easy to understand.

You don't just knock on one door when you want to help. There are many, many utilities companies in the NY, NJ, PA, DE areas. These guys are cowards . . . they saw the devstation and ran away . . . and now are trying to say the problem is that they are not union. COWARDS, COWARDS, and not bright ones at that!!

The utility didn't tell them to not work, some unionized crew did---at least that's the story according to the urban legend. Any reporter around would love a story like this, what a scandal---so if the only place its being discussed is on Townhall, you can pretty much guarantee it didn't really happen.

Utility crews from Alabama ready to help hurricane stricken and desperate people in New Jersey without power have been told to "stand down" and some are already headed back home. Why? Because they're non-union workers. Keep in mind there are still millions of people in New Jersey without power and many who have been stranded for days as a result. The crews drove 900 miles to reach the area effected by Sandy and this is how they were received:
