Love how you cited evidence to support your argument. Would have been been better if you also put ROTFLMAO after your fake laugh. Then you would have persuaded us all, Colonialgirl. Keep up your keen insight.
So I was right and you were wrong. Got it.
David, nice try. That same dictator had been in power there for 30 years. If the argument for war was that he is a bad dictator, then there would be a line. Do I hear a drumbeat for war to enter Zimbabwe? Myanmar? et.al? The nuke stuff is made up. They knew it at the time. I linked to the vote. Most Dems voted against it. Nearly all Repubs voted for it. Savvy when you lie is not a good quality. At least my Conservative parents told me it wasn't and I believed them then and believe them now.
Will, good point it has little to do with the post, but it does have something to do with Rod's post that I replied to. He was under the impression that the idiots on the left buy anything they are sold, but the votes in the Congress show most Dems voted against the war measure, while most Repubs voted for it.
I think Santayana's quote actually bolsters mine. Does it not? And if the history you learn was wrong? The quote I use has been said by several of my teacher mentors. Of course, they use Santayana and Ford, and Churchill too.
Worth re-posting here since so many THers do not know (or care to?) that: "There are no science or history content standards. There are reading, writing, and rhetoric standards in these, but not content. That has been left to the states." The ELA has historical writings (recommendations) which if you go through all of them I think you will be impressed and agree with most of them.
Mitt37, there are no historical content standards in the Common Core. Will there be? Maybe someday. As to right now. My post above and this one are 100% factual. My name might be arrogant but the content is correct. Here is the link to the social studies standards: http://www.corestandards.org/ELA-Literacy/RH/introduction

OHPerry, Raising standards to entrance into the profession would not be hard on their members. Their members are already in the profession. They are not for raising requirements for staying in the profession. There is a saying among historians that goes something like this: Not only am I not good at predicting the future, too often I am not good at predicting the past. Any true historian knows this to be the case.
You totally agree with someone who starts with a false premise and then builds on it. See my citation above.
