They have a 9 step program at Dartmouth?
Al, your post doesn't make sense. This is either a 4 or 35 minute clip and is not her teaching. It is like me telling you stories about Babe Ruth and telling me he wouldn't be good at baseball. See her teach to see if she is good at teaching.
BK - do some research get back to me and tell me what it might mean. Thanks.
Already answered above. But not sure why it matters. The thing to do is see an argument for the argument's sake. Is what the person says or writes correct, logical, informed, etc.?
I am a teacher with a child not of school age. I am neither for nor against home school, private schools, charter schools, or public schools. I went to public and private schools and was homeschooled. I am aware of uncommon schools. Do they have extended school day and year? That seems to be the deciding factor, imo, on whether a charter is successful.
Based on the McKinsey & Co. report "Closing the Talent Gap" teachers are woefully underpaid compared to where the top talent in college goes. According to the American Enterprise Institute they should be paid less based on their SAT scores.
Why would I re-live his auto accident? I used to play his speech at the beginning of Patton (very accurate to a stump speech he gave) and play some of the North Africa scenes. FWIW, I am a member of General Patton's farm.
Common core is a step in this direction (it is not a curriculum, but standards). There already exist national standards put out by the professional organizations representing the different disciplines. Adopting them nation wide would be hard to do from the left and right, imo.
Gawd no. First, the evidence show that right to work improves results. Second, right to work makes teaching even more political (at the local level).
Watch the whole speech.
