That reflects your ignorance far more than it reflects these soldiers' realities and desires in their own words, Troy. Fortunately, fixing this is as easy as stepping out of the reactionary Townhall media bubble for a few moments and doing some basic research. If you're as unselfish as you imply, as compared to the LGBT troops whom you so casually disparage, this should be no problem for you.

Over 14,000 men and women who once served with honor -- many of them in critical areas -- have been discharged since DADT went into effect. Many had no desire to Tell, but they were Asked anyway and refused to lie. They weren't asking to have sex...

Mr. Gaffney apparently believes we live in a vacuum, in which American exceptionalism makes the past experiences of our NATO allies irrelevant to our own policies. Practically without exception, our allies have already grappled with the question of open military service for homosexuals and have chosen to allow it. Many if not most of those nations had their own Gaffney-esque Chicken Littles, back in the day, warning of impending disaster with respect to recruiting and retention. Did those predictions come true? Of course they didn't, to any significant degree that anyone has been able to demonstrate. In the UK, a single soldier resigned, citing the new policy. ONE SOLDIER.
