In response to:

A Few Words For Newt Gingrich

For those who bash Newt's "Moon Colony" idea, please understand that this is NOTHING NEW. NASA already was well into a program that planned to build a base on the moon in order to learn how to live in those conditions and to eventually use the base to launch spacecraft to Mars. The program was terminated once Obama came into office and now the US does not even have its own spacecraft to go into space, a pathetic regression from the advanced and inspiring country that sent the first man to the moon. Newt's idea was used merely as a convenient and simple-minded way for his haters to bash him, while these haters chose to be ignorant of the similar NASA program that had already been in place, of which they never spoke ill of in the past.

Finally- I read a post with some real knowledge about what NASA had in the works. Most of these ideas don't pan out or simply not yet feasable but the things learned studying them are useful elsewhere- and not necessarily in the same disciplines..

Newt Gingrich finally made it formal. He's now ended his presidential race with characteristic bombast. The real news, the big surprise, was that he made it this far. And resisted dropping out for this long. The man has a real talent -- for ignoring reality.

If character really is fate, the Newt should have been done as a presidential candidate as soon as his dubious connections with Freddie Mac became common knowledge....
