First off, I own a small business going on 20 years, my second. I have read some good material over the years in Inc. Magazine. I have some nice, smart folks working for me. If I didn't crack the whip, we'd be exactly nowhere. I'd love to be able to tell people what to do and 'get out of the way'. But we need to drive sales, not excuses, and it is incumbent on me to be hands-on, not hands off ... there is no other way. Let them talk about 'the boss' all they want -- friends are not a requirement. Productivity is.
