How Mitt Romney Won My Vote

wmou, I'm so proud of you for voting for Gary Johnson! I wish you'd consider another candidate, Ross Perot. I hear he's very conservative! Or better yet, you should vote for Ronald Reagan! Yeah, he's the one who can beat Obama! Or even, I would think Santa Claus would be able beat Obama, if enough people knew about his political leanings! Now THERE'S a candidate you can get behind! Incidentally, all of the above have an equal chance of beating Obama. And since nothing will change that fact, perhaps if defeating Obama is your goal, you might consider voting for Romney?

Some of us real conservatives out there would rather see Obama win again than Romney.

Before you stone me for treason, the reason is simple: There is 0% chance a true conservative candidate of the ilk of Reagan or Paul will ever be on the Democrat ticket, but there IS a chance that the Republican Party can be salvaged. If Obama wins again, perhaps the GOP will nominate a real conservative for 2016—say, Rand Paul? America will hate the Democrat Party even more, and we won't have to worry about an incumbent buffoon Romney running the US into the ground.

Since both Obama and Romney will ruin this country, I'd rather have Obama do it so the GOP doesn't look quite as bad.

A vote for Romney is a vote for Obama (R).

Back in May of 1999, I made a decision to leave the Democratic Party. It was an easy decision. I had been a Democrat for 11 years. I voted for Dukakis when I was a committed leftist. But, later, when I became a pro-life conservative, there was no room for me in the party. So I became a Republican and also joined the NRA. I've been a straight shooter ever since. Excuse me if that last line sounded heterosexist. I’m a work in regress....
