Three Views on Same Sex Marriage

EMTMatt Wrote: May 21, 2012 9:14 AM
Ts article is naive and completely biased towards the writers viewpoint. The fourth argument, the CONSTITUTIONAL argument, is that every person has the right to do with their own body what they will so long as it does no harm to another person. When we weaken the rights for one class because it offends than we weaken the rights for all Americans. Marriage is a religious institution and should be kept seperate from the intrests of the state. The state has a compeling intrest in defining the property and inheritence rights of individuals and this is the sole purpose of the states involvment in the institution of marriage. Arguments against homosexuality and poligamy are Strawmen used to distract from the fact the government uses these people

marriages are SOCIETY's business. it's a societal construct.
since society delegates power to it's government,it rightfully becomes government's concern and area of authority.

I've written many an article, but never without bias and never toward another's viewpoint. But then again, I'm not a hired political speech writer!

what interest does the state have in inheritance and defining property rights?

i own my property, i can leave it to whom i choose. what does the state have to do with it?

arguments against homosexuality? what is NATURES purpose of sex in a bisexual species? why isnt mankind asexual?

I don't know USMC2531, the EMT makes a very valid point here. We have had some elderly family members pass away in recent years and the system here in PA seems geared towards grabbing the maximum number of assets to support the welfare state. These assets are cash, insurance policies and real estate that has already been purchased with after-tax money and likely was taxed at the time of purchase as well. The government simply has no right to the assets we have acquired over a lifetime of labor and saving. That is the EMT's point- get the govt out of inheritance taxes and they will not care at all what unions are formed. As for homosexuality and nature, there are a lot of things that cannot be explained, such as the female orgasm.

Eggzactly!
I pose another question. Why in homosexual "relationships", does one assume the male role, and one assume the female role?
We should be asexual, if the behavior was "natural". In fact, there would be no need for sex.

If you're right and the sole purpose for Marriage is procreation, a Catholic view not supported by the Bible BTW, than why do we allow Infertile couples to be married. Marriage is for companionship. I don't believe in gay marriage though. Marriage is a religious sacrement. I do however feel that everyone should have the same legal protections against the seizure of their property by the Government and the ability to form the living situations that best suits their needs and enables them to create a better life for themselves and their children. And yes gays CAN have children, just not with each other. So please have a cogent argument against what I am saying, not just more rhetoric that skirts the issues.

As an additional tax source. When one mmeber of the union dies they charge the other an inheritence tax on all of the first persons assets. Of course they fight the recognition of alternative unions, it provides a tax shelter from what is arguably the most eggregious tax in existence. If they de-sexualized the entire process and provided for Civil Incorporation a group of friends could pool their resources to build a larger hous on a larger plot of land in order to raise their children with their collected resources. Why have three kitchens when you can build a manor with one large one? Why force women to work to support their family when they can pool their resources and leave one home to tend the children and give them support?

explain how homos create families with children.

WHO is FORCING women to work?

WHO is forcing women to NOT stay home?

and why women? why not men?

Lets deal with the Biblical arguments against this. Biblically there is no differntiation of sexual sins. Homosexuality is listed along side Adultery and Fornication. Prohibiting gays from forming a government recognized bond makes as much Biblical sense as preventing heterosexuals from forming a recognized bond because they are adulerers or fornicators. Ever seen a prostitute? No "Marriage" for you. Ever lain with another man's wife? Guess what buddy, "marriage" is off the table. People who make a biblical argument for the Church taking a role in the lives of sinners have never known God or seen Him. Before you argue I want you to pick up a Bible and READ these scriptures. 1 Corinthians 5:9-13, 1 Corinthians 6:12-20, Matthew 5:43-48

Matthew 7:1-6, Matthew 15:16-20, Matthew 18: 22-35, Matthew:22: 34-40, and 1 John 4:19-21. And just so you understand that BIBLICALLY sin is sin and ALL sin is equal, 1 John 3:4-6

homosexuality is an unhealthy,destructive behavior(medically PROVEN),a mental illness(readily apparent),and NOT good for society,any society(recognized over millennia).
it is not to be accommodated, enabled,or encouraged.

A lot of cultural commentators are confused these days. They believe that people’s views on same sex marriage are solely a reflection of their religious beliefs. Nothing could be further from the truth. Actually, some things could be further from the truth – like saying that Al Sharpton has integrity or that Dan Savage has class. But you get the point. The same sex marriage debate is about politics. To call it a religious debate is to miss the point entirely. Your stance on same sex marriage should vary depending on whether you consider yourself to be a conservative, a liberal,...
