Unequal pay for equal work is BS. Most jobs use a pay scale,.$X to start plus $Y per year of service up to $Z than a yearly cost of living raise. If unequal pay for equal work WERE true it would be discrimination and you would see suit after suit until it was ended. It is the result of manipulated statistics. "Oh well this woman has worked here for 20 years and she has not risen as far as her male co-worker has in that same time. Must be discrimination." Not even a second to consider that Susie has taken the first week of summer every year off to get her kids set up for summer break. No mention of the fact that Susie has taken maternity leave 3 times while Bob has been at his desk all that time.

No mention of the fact Bob went to that special course in Hong Kong while Susie didn't want to be away from her kids for 3 weeks. Men are considered better risks than women for high end positions because THEY ARE BETTER RISKS FOR HIGH END POSITIONS. The idea that equal women don't get promoted defies logic. If Susie can make as much or more money than Bob than she gets the job becuase the company wants money not a boys club. This stuff went away in the 70s. T need to stop manipulating statistics and deal with improving the economy.
