What''s not to understand about why American Jews vote Democratic? They have a collective memory of being discriminated against right here in this country---they weren't allowed in social clubs, resorts, hotels, universities, certain housing, etc. They fear the Evangelical Christians who they know have as a goal to convert all Jews to Christianity. They mistrust those people, and choose to stay with the party that has liberated this country from such prejudice against blacks and Jews. They will never convert; the Israelites just use Chrisitians. Also American Jews feel more confortable in a Western country like the Europe most came from. They don't like the Middle East.

Surveys show that roughly 70 percent of American Jews intend to cast their ballots for President Barack Obama's reelection next month.
Himmelfarb's quip indicated that American Jews abjure their economic interests in favor of their liberal values. Certainly it is true that for American Jews to vote for Obama next month they must act against their economic interests.
