Business tax is a hidden tax paid by consumers, and as such it is very regressive. If one accepts Adam Smith's model wealth is created by specialization and trade. Since taxes are paid from the wealth created in the private sector and since that wealth is created by trade, then no matter the form of the tax it is ultimately levied on the trade. Business taxes therefore reduce the benefit of a trade for the business and the consumer. It would be better if they were eliminated.
