Nearly ALL job and GDP growth was the result of Helicopter Ben's printing cash and growth of the government. The American economy has stalled; Europe is back in recession. Obamacare is featuring massive new tax increases. Obama's regulatory apparatus has been cut loose and are using up trees and ink at a record pace. Recession is in America's future, regardless of this fiscal cliff nonsense. Obama needs to blame someone, as he refuses accountability for the consequences of any of his actions. Therefore pushing America over the fiscal cliff will allow him to blame Republicans for a recession that is baked into the cake regardless of what happens with the fiscal cliff "negotiations".
Many progressive reporters and bloggers have been pushing the idea that going over the fiscal cliff into January will have very little effect on the economy and will actually help President Obama achieve his legislative goals. Indeed, Republican Sen. Barrasso hypothesized that President Obama was "eager" to go over the cliff.

Unfortunately, going over the fiscal cliff has real economic effects, and the progressives who are claiming otherwise are irresponsibly pushing the country to unnecessary economic pain.
