Thank you, Colonel North! You've explained in a few words the genesis of the Iraq war and the sequellae of the political actions of our government following a successful military campaign.

Which part was successful? The part where we killed thousands of Americans and wounded tens of thousands more? (Not to mention the hundred plus thousand Iraqis we killed.) Or the part where we spent a trillion? Or the part where we created an ally to Iran? Or the part where we recruited an entire generation of Arab terrorists?

It couldn't be removing WMD, because there were none. It could not be removing a threat to the US, because Iraq was not a threat. It could not be anything to do with 911, because Iraq had nothing whatsoever to do with that. It could not have been removing an al Qaeda ally, because Saddam was an enemy to al Qaeda...

Just what part of this disaster do you call a "success"?

It was not our business to free Iraq. If you wanted to free Iraq, you should have bought a ticket and gone to do your own thing. But the US government had no business sending you to risk life and limb on some nation-building exercise on the other side of the world.

Apparently it's not our business to stop evil, either. If I see you're house is being invaded by thugs; rest assured Corbie, I'll remain silent and sit on my hands! Good luck, loser!

To Elisabeth

What would the Iraq war look like to you if it had been a disaster?

A disaster?

Something that bankrupts the country, puts us on the line for trillions more in bills to take care of our wounded service members, recruits an ally to our biggest regional enemy, recruits an entire generation of Arab terrorists, puts a communist in the Oval Office, destroys US credibility all over the world...

Wait a minute! Iraq DID all of that. And more...

WASHINGTON -- It's the question asked by Gold Star families -- the loved ones of our fallen -- when I meet them at funerals or public events. It is spoken quietly by the spouses of grievously wounded soldiers, sailors, airmen, guardsmen and Marines when I visit military and veterans hospitals. And it's in the correspondence I receive from parents and friends of those who have left something on the battlefield: "Was it worth it?"

A decade ago this week, when Operation Iraqi Freedom began, this wasn't a question posed to our Fox News team. While cameras in Baghdad captured the...
