Why don't conservs go back to focusing on the whole birth certificate scuffle? It's more fun to read about everyone's take on where Obama was born. No one has one iota of proof that he wasn't born in Hawaii, but it's fun to think that he was born in a hut in Kenya, that he changed his name to his stepfather's that Bill Ayers changed his diapers when he was a baby and that his mother was a communist alien from the plant Kjupro!

It's just boring to think that he was born in Hawaii, was a brilliant academic, a huge success at Harvard Law School, was a community organizer, got married, had 2 beautiful daughters and wanted to work in public service for the good of the country. What fun is that??

Nothing like moving on and...

politicians. People who think Obama was elected because he was loved really don't have a clue.

Yes, people vote for who they like. But liking a candidate and campaigning for their victory is not the same thing.

Only the conservatives talk about Obama as being so iconic, so "loved." To the people who voted for him, he was the best candidate for the job for a variety of reasons and best represented them. He was not loved and revered the way you conservatives think he was. He's a politician -- same as Bush, Clinton or anyone else. The conservatives labeled him a savior, not the democrats.

That said, it's the same with Palin. The Dems do not "hate" her -- Dems, generally speaking do not get quite as childishly...

Really? Do you see Obama and Co. trembling with fear of Sarah Palin who didn't even complete her one term as governer before she quit?

Bullies and cowards use the "fear factor" to try and show they have strength. In their own, way, people who are dying to think that Annie Oakley from the North is instilling fear in a huge percentage of Americans are no better than the Taliban or the gov't of N.Korea. This isn't a civil war people - stop being so comabative.

No has answered WHY anyone should be afraid of her. And, is that a good thing? Should we be afraid of our government like people were afraid of Saddam? And WHY Sarah Palin? She gave a few loud-mouth speeches about why she's better than someone who lives in a...

y'all might not like what he's saying but it's true, true, true. IF she wants the job of President her appeal MUST be wider than just a small fraction of the Repub. party. She needs to have ideas and solutions for ALL Americans and she needs to demonstrate that she has some understanding of the needs of disparate groups of people. That means, the urban poor, recent immigrants, AND people who have a different religion than Christianity. If she can't show empathy and understanding and knowledge, then she can have a nice life as a columnist or talk-show host or whatever. But holding a national office like this, means commitment to All, not just the relatively few who 'love' you. '

and step back a minute.

Palin and any other politician who wants to get in the game had better be prepared. "The Media" that the conservatives would like to blame all their problems on, now consist of a lot more than The Times and various network news. Bloggers using Photoshop is not "The Media." David Letterman is not "The Media." In the on-line world, anyone can say anything about anybody and as long as no laws are broken, it stands. Town Hall is a perfect example -- no one demands that anything a columnist or poster writes here be the truth -- it's all opinion and heresay, so why is everyone surprised? Palin can call Obama a terrorist, but someone makes a stupid joke about her daughter (who by the way did not shy...

Thanks for telling it like it is. With Palin's credibility shot, (what little she had with a very limited portion of the population) she's doing the right thing for her- going after the money. I can picture her as a talking head on Fox, or other media and her book will make her millions.

Sorry folks, she's no different from any other politician -- right or left -- it's all about her. She'll be right at home with Coulter, Limbaugh and other gang members in kook-town.

How could anyone deny that what she is saying is true? But we get the entertainment culture that we want. If there weren't an audience for celebrity worship, then the entertain. biz would focus on something else.

So stop getting all self-righteous and puffed up with indignity, Malkin - you more than most people understand that you go with what sells.

And let me remind you: That liberal bastion that everyone conservative despises, NPR regularly pays tribute to those who have been killed on their Nightly News with Jim Lehrer. A lot more than some so-called "patriotic" Amercians do. And who the he*l is Malkin anyway to define what 'patriotism' is??

what's that kid -- Trigger's his name? And people are saying everyone hate him? Wackos -- Who would have thought of that? Only a right-wing nutbag would even thinking about hating a poor, disabled child or using him in this manner to make a point about what a hero his mother is. What crap!

Look: Just concede: You lost this one. Palin buckled on her governor job, and her chances for a presidential bid. It's no big deal -- someone else will take her place. Don't get overly personal about it -- there' too much emotion floating around about this. As for hating -- ask Sarah Palin why she thinks that only small-town people are worthwhile human beings. Then we can talk about "hating." Until them stop trying to make her quitting...

about Palin and how everyone hates her. Palin the eternal victim. Everyone hates her family, blah, blah, blah.

The worst thing about this whole Palin event is how little she actually matters to the Democrats, and how that fact enrages her followers. Sure, she's getting attention now for the past few days, but her fellow travlers know that the news cycle is short and soon she'll be history.

Most people don't know or care how many children she has and what they're story is.

It infuriates the conservatives that instead of the Dems ACTUALLY fearing and loathing her, they have dismissed her as just another wacko. What is to be scared of? She quit her elected office-- governing a state with less people total than...
but yes, they are there to entertain. I mean -- what is there really to envy about Palin??? It's not as if she has this huge following; certainly not like Obama. There's a small percentage of people in a minority party with whom she resonates with. Certainly the mainstream, center people in America have not fallen in love with her. Maureen Dowd is a renowned journalist -- whether you like her or not. Does anyone really think she's envious of a woman who's married to a fisherman who lives in a state that's cold and dark most of the year with 5 kids, one of whom is profoundly disabled, and the other a single teen mother? As for Letterman: Why does anyone care what he says? It was blatantly obvious, that he was taking a shot at the...
