April 4, 2013 - Quinnipiac University National Poll; Illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay in the U.S. and eventually apply for citizenship, 59 percent of voters say, while 11 percent say they should be allowed to stay, but not apply for citizenship, and 25 percent say they should be required to leave the U.S.

According to a new Rasmussen Report, the majority of American voters will only support an immigration reform package if border security comes before a path to citizenship.

Just 26% support a plan that would provide legal status for those already in the country illegally who otherwise have obeyed the law if it doesn’t include tougher border control. Fifty-eight percent (58%) oppose a plan stripped of this provision.

As a reminder, Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and President Obama have said a path to citizenship should not be contingent on border security,...
