Mr.Blackwell, this column is one of the most realistic and pragmatic I have read in the past decade. Sometimes I wonder if our "experts" or talking heads have any capacity at all to deal with reality in a dynamic fashion. Even today, amid discussions whether to stop or condition our military aid to Egypt, congressmen just interviewed seem to be truly in some La-La Land claiming that we should continue to fund the Egyptian military to "guarabte" their treaty of non-aggression with Israel. It is ironic that we fund them until ("all of a sudden") they decide not to honor the treaty anymore and attack Israel with means and resources provided by us.

We are used to hearing that America defends Israel. President Obama assures Israel that he has their back. That may be convincing talk in the `hood, but it rings hollow from this invertebrate administration to talk about anyone's back. Actually, we may have all that backward. It may well be that Israel that is defending us. Israel may yet prove America's Shield.
