America needs to wise up regarding semi-automatic weapons. A revolver, or a double barrel shotgun or deringer, or multi barreled black powder weapons would technically be "semi-automatic" because a round is fired with each trigger pull. I would note that Bob Munden holds several records through his ability to fire 8 rounds per second using a cowboy style revolver. Guns are not the issue, unless only bad guys or crazy people have them. The ability to defend yourself or your family is not something government should or could control. If bad guys or an oppressive government are the only ones who can carry high capacity weapons, our freedom will have already been lost.

Actually, the Democrats won the Presidency, who's powers are mostly symbolic, the so-called "bully pulpit", they retained control of the Senate, where legislation can only be reconciled, undermined or ignored. Republican retained control of the House, where legislation can be introduced, and where the control of America's "purse" resides.

Maybe I missed something. Are we arguing that House members who took a STAND directly representative of, and reflecting the will of the people they were elected to represent, have done something wrong? How have we allowed compromise, simply for the sake of compromise become the mechanism whereby Legislators gain and remain in office? How would tolerating higher taxes, even on a few rich guys, address the fact that our government is too big, spends too much, and involves itself in far too many areas where it has no right to be involved? You don't add more fuel to a fire that is already out of control. Clearly these folks have forgotten that the will of the people, should be the guidance in our governance.
