In response to:

A False Sense of Security

here is one step we could take. the most effective and efficient way to protect our school children is to eliminate brick and mortar schools completely. the internet is already capable of providing an education that is superior to the education provided by brick and mortar schools and at one percent of the cost. add to that the fact that the internet's ability to provide education will continue to improve by leaps and bounds, it is pointless to support the continuance of brick and mortar schools. go start or join a movement to eliminate all elementary and secondary brick and mortar schools. they are wasting our money and damaging our childrens' intellects as well as gathering our children in to vulnerable groups...

... at the mercy of maniacs.

of course, many who are talking about protecting our children do not really mean it.

they are making political hay. they are trying to obtain more power using the fear of parents.

there is no way they would adopt a real solution like eliminating brick and mortar schools that group our children together as targets for mass murderers.

eddie-Kids get a lot of things out of school that have nothing to do with education.

This morning, when I took my children to school, there was a guard at the gate for the first time.  Obviously, the school intended it as a thoughtful gesture for anxious mothers.

But that's the point.  Most of the "solutions" being touted offer only a false sense of security.  To that point, Ron Fournier had a compelling piece in today's National Journal, titled "What If Nothing or Nobody is to Blame for Adam Lanza?"  Fournier writes:

What if there is nothing or nobody to blame? Would that make this inexplicable horror unbearable?

What if we didn't rush to judgement?...
