His line about the criminals having magazines that will be denied law-abiding citizens says it all. While I was as horror-struck as everyone else by the Columbine-Va. Tech-Aurora-Newtown tragedies, I am frustrated to speechlessness by those who demand "tougher laws". WHAT laws would have protected all those victims above?? The pols are using these evnts to get "ink", wring their hands, "tut-tut" all over the place, and coming up empty with any effective law. Truth is, ANY law that infringes on lawful ownership will be a win for the criminals. THEY could care less about limits to magazines, type of weapons, etc Good for this young man, but Obama will NEVER use his letter!!

The Left routinely ascribes absolute moral authority to grieving victims in furtherance of their political agenda.  Their agitprop is often manipulative and exploitive, but it works.  Appeals to facts and reason aren't enough anymore; persuading the public increasingly requires emotional appeals.  Even if they find it inherently unpalatable, conservatives must promote people whose personal stories offer counter-narratives to liberals' tragic parade of victimhood.  Katie
