As usual, John, a thought-provoking column. Re: "Budget cuts"(that aren't): We have to start with the understanding that the public, most of them, have no idea what you're talking about. For several years now, the media has dictated what people think, and therefore, how they vote. They(the media) are parroting what Obama says; therefore the average Joe thinks the Prez is actually doing what he promised, raising taxes on the "rich" and cutting expenditures. As you pointed out, the "cuts" are anything but. BUT, we're not hearing enough of this from our Republican leaders. Honestly, when Boehner speaks, I hear a language that I don't understand. So I’m reading this email teaser from National Journal’s Influence Alley called Spending Cuts Added to Plan B that says: “In a bid to win more support for Republican House Speaker John Boehner's Plan B to cut taxes for everyone but millionaires, GOP leaders are adding a second bill that would reduce the deficit and avoid the sequester, a GOP leadership aide told the Alley.”

So first I’m thinking “What tax cut?” Doesn’t a tax cut necessitate some sort of tax “cutting” action? The net result of the proposal is to increase taxes for some. If these guys worked on Wall...
