Yes, from the beginning, but they did not take them from their people until this century, Gun crime has risen ever since, and now the UK police have to have roaming squads with fully automatic assault weapons nearby to protect them.

The last 20 minutes on MSNBC has been dedicated to coverage of the cop killer Christopher Dorner and how much of a victim he has been through life--ya know, being black in an all-white Christian school and stuff. Never a bad time for MSNBC to show victim solidarity I guess.
