Can GOP Reverse the Damage Done by Iraq?

Have we actually won a war since WWII? Grenada? Panama? Serbia? Has a cost/benefit analysis of our military engagements since WWII been done? When the rules of engagement become rational and the doctrine of "military necessity" is embraced by our people and our government we might be able to win a war again. Until then TROOPS OUT NOW!

When the other side surrenders, armed resistance stops, and the clear objectives of the victors are realized victory has been achieved. The South surrendered and was occupied, the slave system was destroyed, and the slaves freed. The South was reincorporated into the Union and it's men have fought for the Union in every war since the fall of the Confederacy. Total war, followed by total victory.

Call it what you like - the South was utterly defeated, and the Union victory was so thorough that men from the old confederate states have fought very well in the Union military ever since.

The South's extremely aggressive role in that war is revealed by the fact that the simple use of the filibuster could have stopped Lincoln's entire plan. The South insisted on war and got it. The South reaped what it sowed.

d, we hav e never recovered!

Is the Iraq war to blame for the mess we are in?

Now, I should qualify that question by explaining "mess" and "we." By "mess," I mean the dawn of Barack Obama's second term, the predictably catastrophic rollout of Obamacare, the exploding debt and deficit, the stimulus boondoggles, etc. By "we," I mean conservatives (particularly those, like me, who supported the war), but also anyone else who doesn't think Obama has done a bang-up job.

There seems to be a growing consensus that the answer to that question is "yes." In a recent column, the Washington Examiner's Philip Klein writes, "It's...
