Asked five 25+ year old U.S./H.S. History teachers who was Che and what were his politics and not one of them knew any any thing more than he was a folk hero of the 60's. One of them was wearing a Che decorated T shirt. One said he was a singer like Bob Marley. As a retired teacher and currently a substitute for 25 high schools I'm saddened by both the curriculum and the lack of knowledge that our young replacements are teaching the rising generations. Articles like this need to be made available to our younger teachers and their students.

You know that the education of our children (or should I say the non educating) has been deliberately dumbed down and for a reason which we are now living through. If you are truly saddened by this I would hope you would work to defeat Common Core which is being implemented in 46 States. It's appalling and should scare the bejeezus out of you. People, we need to wake up! What is happening in our schools is a crime and we haven't been paying attention and there are consequences!!

I'm a f/t teacher and, since I'm responsible for a county-issued curriculum, I often feel as if I'm a professional swindler of the young.

He looks good on a t-shirt. End of story.

I think it might be even worse than that. Not only do they not know, they don’t care to know. Learning takes work, something by which the younger generations seem increasingly repelled.

That is what will bring this nation down, the dumbing down of it, not the colors.

Because we quit teaching 'critical thinking' skills. Our children are just being fed a lot of untruths. And there are very few people paying attention. And, the ones who are ringing the alarm are shouted down and accused of being conspiracy theorists. Wake up America!!

This week some “Latinos” in Florida detected an “ethnic slur” on the wall of the ritzy South Beach Hotel W’s lounge. Within minutes all hell broke loose. A few stormed over to the manager and DEMANDED it be taken down, promptly and ceremoniously! The rest got on their BlackBerrys and iPhones to “burn up the wires.” Word spread throughout this tightly-knit “Latino community” and soon the hotel was blitzed with scathing e-mails, phone calls and tweets.

This “Latino” groups powerful “Latina” Congressperson even jumped into the fray, firing off a letter to the Hotel owners, denouncing the “insensitivity” of the picture...
