The reason that waiting lists are so long in Massachusetts is because doctors are now forced to accept Mass Health. What you'll hear when trying to make an appointment is "we are not taking new patients" or "we can get you in 2-6 months from now". Hospitals have always accepted Mass Health but private practitioners rarely would. There may be more people with insurance now but it's not the type of insurance anyone with a decent employer sponsored plan would call insurance. 10,000 dollar deductible for instance on a 650 per month plan.

Over the next 10 years health reform will impose upon us about $1 trillion in new taxes and it will take another $716 billion out of Medicare, imperiling access to care for the elderly and the disabled according to Medicare's Office of the Actuaries.

It will impose a mandate to buy health insurance on most people and fine us if we don't comply.
