Repetition does not make it true. That is not equality to a gay person, marrying someone of the SAME ORIENTATION as a hetero person can would be. Your assertion is just as stupid as supporting miscegenation laws by saying blacks aren't discriminated against because they can't marry white people. They can marry a black person just like a white person can marry white. A marriage is NOT being redefined to it's DETRIMENT by gay couples marrying. Marriage has been redefined all the time, without a problem. Redefining DIVORCE and the Constitution to discriminate have been FAR more harmful.

Now that President Obama has "evolved" on the matter of same-sex marriage to the position favored by "enlightened" Americans, this would seem to be a good time for some rhetorical hygiene.

There are modest and civil proponents of same-sex marriage. But the tone of many advocates has been shrill to the point of frothing. The Southern Poverty Law Center, for example, put the National Organization for Marriage and the Family Research Council on its 2010 list of "hate groups" because of their opposition to gay marriage.
