Popular sentiment has tried to make "sustainability" a code word for environmentalism, but the truth is sustainability is the key to capitalism. Every small business owner, every worker seeks to invest their time and capital in a business that will last, as far into the future as possible. Even those investing in the buggie whip business in 1900 did so thinking the new automobile industry would have no long term effect on their futures. Now government tries to manage all parts of the economy making businesses have to spend more capital on satisfying government than consumers, a business model doomed to fail. www.valuesofamerica.com
