A good article, until he refers to a non-existent Iranian nuclear weapons program. The country in illegal possession of nuclear weapons is Israel, not Iran.

I'm an atheist, but I wouldn't close the Vatican Embassy if I were president.

Right, in part. Hitler lost a war. He did not lose a debate. The difference is important. Hitler's followers are not leftist college professors, who would be most strident in denouncing Hitler's eugenic and cultural aims. Leftism isn't about raising human quality first and creating enduring cultural improvements thereby. It is about forcing some to pay for the material betterment of circumstances for others, while those others loaf about in between committing crimes, for which the leftists will invent excuses.

There was a William Penn who founded the Pennsylvania colony about 1700. That was a white guy, though. This William Penn is one of the smarter black residents of the United States, currently alive in 2013. It should be no surprise that there are a few smart blacks. The distribution of IQ for US-resident blacks is normal, with an average of 85 and a standard deviation of 12.4. That doesn't mean that there are no blacks at all with IQs above 140. It only means that only 1 black in 217,000 will have IQs over 140, which is the minimum IQ for "genius" status. There's even a black astrophysicist, Neil deGrasse Tyson. The leftist media hype black achievers, and they ignore the fact that most of them aren't pure blacks, but mulattoes with significant white ancestry.

No, you're wrong Bill. Rights are inherent; they come from nature. Whether they are inalienable or not depends on whether or not there's someone, stronger than you are, who will prevent your from exercising them. You were born with your arms, but if someone cuts them off you won't have them anymore. It is the same for liberty.

Very good. Ayn Rand's Objectivism isn't the last word in philosophy, but it is certainly an improvement over the leftist ideology. For all her denunciation of the "package deal" fallacy of argument, Rand uses it herself when she lumps together all forms of collectivism and declares them all unworkable because Marxism doesn't work well. The family is a form of collectivism that can work quite well because of a naturally evolved patch against the tragedy of the commons: mammalian mother-love, extended over time to other forms, such as brother love and racial comity. If your former schoolmate becomes much richer than you later in life, you might be envious. But if your brother does, you probably are glad. (Hank Reardon's fictional family was created as a device to make the family collective seem to be as failure-prone as collectivist economies are.) Heinlein was more practical than Rand, and more entertaining. Although RAH would probably have denied it while alive, some of his writing (e.g. Starship Troopers, chapter 12, scene of Major Reid's classroom) provided a good justification for the racist view of life. Simply bump the bug-human conflict down by one notch of scale in biological differences, from interspecies to interracial.

That's true. But opportunities for acquiring power are scant, and the people who are most alert for them are bad people, who are much better at recognizing and exploiting them than they are at using power wisely and well after they have gained it. The country that has a good dictator usually does not realize how fortunate it is, and people who are malcontent because THEY aren't in charge often cause no end of needless trouble.

Leftists typically engage in anti-white racism under the pretense that they are being "neutral." Their behavior doesn't so much suggest that races don't exist, as that only the white race does not exist, or that only the white race has no right to exist. That is where a leftist will usually stand and claim that he is standing upon racial neutrality.

It's interesting that the government is going after rifles first. Pistols are the weapon of choice for criminals, who find their smallness advantageous for concealment, surprise and maneuverability. Pistols are more suited to the close-up work that a robber does, and for that reason they're also better for defense against robbers. Rifles, on the other hand, are more suited for fighting soldiers, since they are precise over long distances, giving a sniper a chance to shoot and scoot. By demonizing rifles, the government signals its intention to become such that citizens might have good reason to shoot at its troops, that it plans to become tyranny, a dictatorship, of the very kind the 2nd Amendment was written to empower citizens to resist.

Short, red-headed going gray, rated marksman with small arms in US Air Force field training. I've always had a knack with pistols. Precision seems to come naturally to me. I can shoot through the neck of an old-fashioned Coca-Cola bottle at 50 feet, one hand, double action, about 8 times out of 10. There are better shots with a .357 than me, but not many. But in a gun fight, I would want more bullets than the six in my revolver. Unlike mounted paper targets, enemies will jump around. They'll separate and cause distractions. They'll hide behind cover in order to snipe. To win a fight against several aggressors, even a good marksman might need to shoot many times.
