You're reaching so much here you might strain something. The media reports depicting the LAPD as nasty and bigoted resulted from actual nasty and bigoted things done by the LAPD. They have that reputation for a reason, and I would argue they have tarnished the reputation of law enforcement around the country.

Believe it or not, not everyone on the left believes that gun control will be effective. I think the argument you are making here is the best kind of argument against gun control, because it's grounded in pragmatism--i.e. why do it if it won't work?

Were there some people who made stupid and sexist attacks against Sarah Palin? Sure. The people who did so were wrong and should be rightfully condemned. But you can't pretend that the knock on Sarah Palin was almost entirely substantive: i.e. she was woefully underqualified for the job of VP, and lacked even basic policy knowledge. That's not the kind of thing you hear lefties saying about Kay Bailey Hutchinson or Olympia Snowe, simply because both of these women are everything Sarah Palin is not: smart, serious, and accomplished.

And who can forget all of the amazing classic comedy made by conservatives... Like... Um.... Jon Voigt in something... I guess?
