A few points, first arghhh, I just wasted 15 sec. of my life on that stupid video! But your point has been made. Second, as a scientist newly teaching in a private school I had a discussion about why I'm not using so many of the texts they have, primarily because they are mostly opinion pieces that have little to do with actual science and more to do with indoctrination. Last, I don't think Triclosan should be banned but I have tested some products containing the active ingredient for a class project and is just isn't as effective as regular soap and water or the ethanol sanitizers so I simply don't buy it (capitalism at work).
Actually, no legitimate link to genetics has been found for homosexuality (yet and maybe never), the Xq28 link has been proven false.
I am sad to admit that I was one of those protestors "back in the day". Frankly I was there more for the party than for the politics. Since that time, I have grown up and have come to realize how much of an idiot I was. Several of my friends from back then have also grown up and now embrace a more conservative government, alas, several still have not.
Can't wait to replay this in 2012 when a conservative is put back in office...
send to friends, this should go viral!

I am an evangelical Christian and a scientist and I find that looking at the actual research supporting evolution shows the theory to be far from incontrovertible. I believe the creationism "theory" based on the scientific studies (currently ongoing) that support the Bible. As for genetic studies, yes there appears to be a common Eve, and mitochondrial mutations occur at a rate that would indicate only thousands of years of development. A few years ago, I went to a meeting where an NIH administrator announced more funding for studies to re-construct the evolutionary tree because as our knowledge base grew, the tree fell apart. See, http://www.icr.org/ for more info. No flat Earth here, and no single tree, God started with the "forest".

But answering the probablility, doesn't address the how. As a Christian and a scientist, I deal with both my faith and actual experimental data, looking for where the two agree or disagree. My faith tells me creation, and so far there are no real data to disagree, only support it. I use statistics to report/evaluate my data, not theorize probablity on non-measurable events based on probability of measurable ones. So you will have to excuse my not completely understanding your arguements, I haven't dealt with the theory behind statistics for a while since graduate school.

The biggest flaw in the whole statistical argument is that you are assuming that "evolution" explains how we got here, then looking to justify this or disprove opposition using statistics. Evolution is a broad term. Micro-evolution, gene mutation, etc. is a proven phenomenon and explains phenotypic variations within a species. Macro-evolution, i.e. one species morphs into another has never been shown to happen, ever, even in bacteria. Former examples of supposed proof have been shot down. Yes we all use faith everyday, but be careful what you take for truth (or have faith in).
