Dear beachmom, Please keep to the truth. Don't say he calls Bible believers Bible Thumpers. I'm a believer of the Holy Bible. But not to the extreme of quoting it lamely at every opportunity. That is what I call a Bible Thumper. Know who the original thumpers were? Pharisees. They would walk around Jerusalem citing Scripture to the common people. They tried it on Jesus. He was accused of casting out devils with the help of a demon. WHY? Because Jesus spoke with AUTHORITY; not quoting Scripture for everything. One Pharisee shut off the other one saying: "Art thou also a Galilean? Search the Scripture and see: Out of Galilee arises no prophet!!!"

Dear Beachmom,

A Pharisee in Christ's day insisted on biblical details for everything. Did Jesus quote Scripture to heal the sick? NO? Then He had to be criticized. Why didn't so and so wash his hands? Why aren't they stoning that woman? All of it was according to Scripture. And remember: The DEVIL tried to quote Scripture in Jesus face!

The Bible is very important; sure. But NOT the ONLY rule of faith for Christians. Not to the exclusion of prayer, for instance. Jesus went apart by Himself and PRAYED, beachmom. He didn't sit down to read anything.

Over the years we have made Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly a lot of money. We bought into his carefully-crafted persona as a populist champion of traditional values with his top-rated Fox News show, as well as best-selling books like Who’s Looking out for You and Culture Warrior.

However, recently the house of cards that is O’Reilly’s iffy worldview has shown signs of collapsing.
