The late, great Christopher Hitchens got his fame and reputation writing books like "God Is Not Great." He lambasted the charity of Mother Teresa, who loved the poorest of the poor in the Black Hole of Calcutta. The reason Hitchens would not believe in God was straightforward: He would only believe something for which evidence was available. He saw no "evidence" for a God Almighty. And atheists right now are demanding, "Where is your God; who permits these atrocities? Why didn't HE prevent mass murder of innocent children ?"

Look at the problem at an angle more in the opposite order:

Is the evidence for Satan staring Americans right in their faces? Why can't we admit the devil's existence and his actions, as he spills innocent blood in our streets and schools, using his bevy of possessed killers? Or in the country's abortion mills? All of it is the work of Satan who is unleashed now.

The evidence is plain as can be; and all we think of is GUNS! It's the devil, Stupid!

Hitchens gets evidence; the DEVIL! Evidence called human suffering! The sign of our world's coming to an end. After the end, God will bring all suffering to an end. Jesus Christ is returning soon.

Athiests don't demand proof. They already have a faith. Now agnostics, on the other hand, seek proof. So far we have seen none.

I'm not sure what proof you need. If it is an actual corporeal manifestation, you are unlikely to ever believe, because God does not seem to work that way. I find proof in the amazing beauty and complexity of life, in the acts of kindness and compassion people perform for strangers and in the way that that little voice in our heads seems to get us act more kindly and forcefully when we might otherwise not do so.
"No set of laws can eliminate evil from the world, or prevent every senseless act of violence in our society."

So said President Obama in words of comfort in Newtown. The president was right to speak of evil, but mistaken when he called the massacre "senseless."

For this was a premeditated and purposeful act of mass murder, and the devil that did it knew exactly what he was doing and why.

When he put four bullets into his mother's head while she lay in bed, Adam Lanza wanted her life ended along with his. When he headed for Sandy Hook Elementary,...
