We saw only Rick Santorum brave enough in the primaries to speak out for Christians. As a conservative Republican Rick lost many who didn't see him as the trustworthy right-winger. Everybody sold his social conservative strengths short. But then; he had no wall street clout; no gazillions for that campaign. Romney DID. We threw out the baby with the bathwater. We took instead a man who lives in spiritual darkness. They all tell me; SURE! But he makes money!
Excellent post, Louie! Americans these days are notoriously indifferent to God and his WILL. He guides our every step if we believe in Him; but allows us to stray if we're lukewarm and impious. Since this is a dirty age in our history; God has brought to pass a cooling off of the Christian faith; a stupor. That makes even the most concerned voters lackadaisical about the spiritual worth of politiciams. All they ever think of is their money and the bottom line. Who runs this country to benefit ME? I want entitlements and my HEALTH CARE! For what? For all the venereal disease infecting the population? For the PILL?
Yes; how Joseph smith hornswoggled the American frontier with his nonsense; while he was screwing every follower's wife and daughter? And writing a book full of pretenses to grandeur and racism? What's to analyze, CLF? It's all very historical; where ever Smith the "prophet" preached his demonic gospel; they ran him out of town --PROMPTLY.
I mistake nothing about the LDS sect. It was NOT founded, in 2000 AD or in 1820s America, by Jesus Christ. It is NOT Christ's Holy Church. It's the teachings of men; and ridiculous men at that. If you're "content and proud" about the teaching of a false prophet, I feel sorry for YOU. And, furthermore, CLF: As a defender and spokesman for Joseph Smith's errors, you lost from the start.
Our GOP quandary in November: Obama for another term; with his racketeering administration and deceit. OR, the bare alternative; Romney and his quest. Is living in darkness good? Will his politics be untainted by his spiritual darkness? There can be no doubt; Mormons do live on the verge of the abyss, in darkness. Thanks to their prophet. And the love of money; which the apostle Paul says is the root of all evil. We can have a president of darkened soul; or a popular community organizer of devious purpose. A ROCK and a HARD PLACE.
When those who live in darkness are confronted for their darkened souls; they can't even debate it. All they know to say is their stock chant at the other sinner: You're a bigot. I'm just a sinner. A Christian in the light, yet another sinner. That isn't bigotry. I have light in Jesus Christ, I don't live in darkness.
As sinners go, Joseph Smith self-destructed and would seem to have died unrepentant. Even at that, he's worse than reprehensible. His greatest crime was misleading a whole colony of souls into eternal darkness. yesterday I foolishly described them, including Romney as "morons." But that's forgiveable. God wouldn't damn a moron. Romney isn't moronic. He has talents. What those souls are is living IN DARKNESS. And Smith the would-be prophet led them into that abyss.
You don't have to believe me; I'm just a Catholic conservative voter. One who knows how BADLY we will fail to defeat Obama. And what's so bitter about wishing we had a solid Republican candidate? Are we all supposed to weep at the thought of Mitt massaging his poor wife's sore feet? Like Ms Fields? And that makes him a trustworthy candidate?
I am called Dreadnaught. Naughty for short. I p i s s on Bill Maher. He is a hater; I'm not. I just open my eyes and see. The LDS was founded by a total scoundrel who passed himself off as a prophet of God. He made fools out of his followers. He was a serial adulterer and a liar. To HATE that kind of man is the sign of a good Christian. To NOT denounce today other false prophets who still fool their very dumb followers would be an affront to the real Christian faith.
It's only the very naive who look at two candidates, thinking "Who is the best person to be president?" especially if Obama is being considered. When he beats us, will the "best man" have won? NO; the strongest campaign will win. And we were set up, as Republican voters, to run the worst campaign against Obama. For a candidate whom large segments of the GOP voters will surely reject because of his religion. A religion too WRONG to have in the White House. Ask the Born Again or Fundamentalist Christians !
