Invincible Ignorance

Sowell, predictably, gives himself away in the title and first sentence: "gun control" advocates, those of us opposed to the culture of guns and violence are labelled as shrill, ignorant zealots. He stops short of calling us lunatics, although many Conservatives seem to believe that we are, in fact, exactly that. And the pro-gun solution to gun violence? More guns. No lunacy there. Simplistic t-shirt/bumper sticker slogans like "Guns are not the problem. People are the problem." ignore the obvious: without guns, people are highly unlikely to shoot each other. I have never once heard a pro-gun argument that was not rife with similarly specious logic, warped rationale and, dare i say it? willful ignorance.

ignore the obvious....Again you evade reality! Very simply, responsible individuals do not murder people. If society demanded as much personal responsibility in raising a family(two adult parents) ,working for a living, including ethics+morals as the likes of you want to impose on gun owners.....there would be very little problem! BUT you, in your ignorance and blaming all except the guilty, want the government to tell you(actually you mean others) where -when- how!!
You literally abuse the "privledge " of the freedom you have by blaming on others...grow up!!!(blaming others sounds like obama)

Must every tragic mass shooting bring out the shrill ignorance of "gun control" advocates?

The key fallacy of so-called gun control laws is that such laws do not in fact control guns. They simply disarm law-abiding citizens, while people bent on violence find firearms readily available.

If gun control zealots had any respect for facts, they would have discovered this long ago, because there have been too many factual studies over the years to leave any serious doubt about gun control laws being not merely futile but counterproductive.

Places and times with the strongest gun control laws have...
