Judges Find Dignity in Profanity

Brent, you and Al Gore should both be delighted by the v-chip. If you're afraid that your six year old readers can't handle some of your more irresponsible rants, then the v-chip is a great idea. Just don't use government to force me to use your v-chip.
A Boy Scout master vs. an ice cream scooper... looks like Orange county will have to make this big choice if it wants to keep itself "mainstream".

Brett... you and Mark Lloyd should team up in your efforts. Your main problem though... suppressing content very often results in unintentional glorification. Live with it.

Preying on the National Day of Prayer

DrAndres Wrote: Apr 20, 2010 3:39 PM
You miss an important point, Chuck. You're completely free to have a day... a week... even a year of prayer, but you can't use the government to force (or even encourage) use to pray. This is not because we are afraid of the results of a little Christian prayer. We're afraid of a government that needs to spend more and more time and money deciding which prayers to encourage and which to discourage.

We have a right to read Playboy as well as the bible... but a school has a responsibility to guide students to effective educational activities. It should have the right to determine what can be read on campus. Find a new school if you don't like the reading list.

Carly Fiorina, Woman for the Future

Carly says that she's "pro-life". Does this mean that she wants to stop subsidizing abortion... or to start criminalizing it?

The Upcoming Fight for Life

We're exasperated with the Democrats as they announce their new ideas on how the government might further meddle in our lives. We're almost ready to come back with the Republicans, but Michael Reagan's thoughts must give us pause.

A Porn-Pop Summer

If you're railing against visual porn and you show examples to make your point, you're obligated to blur out the dirty parts. On the other hand, if the topic is literary porn, you're free to select and focus on the most offensive lines. You might (unintentionally) fascinate rather than inflame your readers. Well... what's wrong with that?

Fire Gen. Casey

Sorry Linda... this topic of who is the most politically correct only leads to silliness. To say with certainty that the Fort Hood massacre was organized terrorism is like saying with certainty that the 911 hijackers were cowards. Columnists, talk show host, and politicians have the luxury (perhaps even the obligation) to utter "feel good" drivel about these events, but generals need to stick to hard facts.
