Those jobs went overseas because it's cheaper to have them do the work. And the goods bought from those overseas manufacturers are cheaper to purchase. The reality is the unions drove those jobs overseas with their insistence on higher and higher wages and benefits. As we've just seen with Hostess, they either kill the business, or drive them out.

Not just the unions. We also have the highest corporate tax rate in the world. Plus we have an onerous regulatory system.

But many of those jobs were going overseas anyway. We will never return to the 1950's when we were the only industrialized country left standing. The sooner we stop whining and start competing, the better it will be for all of us.
