There's a Novel in Your Living Room

Dad is 96 now, no longer physically able to do the things he did with me when I was a child. But there was no mental slowness in him today. I received a book about the US Navy in Viet Nam (my war) from my son and that prompted him to question his grandfather, my dad, about WW II. What we got was a fascinating story about some very scared young men on an island called Bougainville, a place most people have never heard of, in the spring of 1944. He spent two Christmas Days on other islands where the temp was 100 degrees and told us about all that as well. Nothing by Tom Clancy can compare to the real thing we heard today.
