Unfortunately the way one gets to be one of the top canidates is by being "glib and fast on his feet". The presidency was never meant to be a popularity or beauty contest. It is said that those who do not remember history are bound to repeat it. I say that those who do not know history will not know when we need to revert to it. We were not founded as a democracy for a reason. Democracys allways fail. We have the electorical college for a reason. The electors are supposed to thoughtfully go about the busines of finding a "competent" person to be president. We are supposed to choose competent electors. Another area that need to be dusted off and cleaned up is the public health service. Get rid of medicade. It has run its course.

The first bill to be submitted in all legislatures should be term limits, one term for senators, 2 for representatives.
If you remember the first plank of Newt Gingrich's contract with America to be abandoned was term limits. Just as soon as those people got to Washington and found out how important they were they decided the nation couldn't do without them. They were co- opted by the media and became part of the problem.

I can't seem to get this accross. The USA has a public health care system. At one time, early 60's, all teaching hospitals were public health facilities as well as the County General Hospitals. In fact I understand that there were public health hospitals in the east. I've been told they were torn down after the AMA stuck its collective snout in the trough around 1966. Any one could use these facilities, rich or poor. You traded time for money. You were asked how much you made and charged a nominal fee if you could aford it. I was charged $2.00 to have my eyeritis cured in UCLA's clinics. The first visit I waited a long time for it to be diagnost. After that I learned the system and usually waited about 1.5 to 2 hours. (has anything...

Allready you can hear the bleat. We don't want to repeal it. We'll loose all the people who are getting goodies. We'll just amend it. This was done with social security, medicare and all the other socialist programs that have been pushed through by the "Progressives" generally Democrats but take a look at Lindsey Graham as the head Progressive mole in the republican party. The Republicans in name only will be out in force seeking your votes and supported by the same interests that put the democrats in last time. Its hard to tell the difference. Don't be mislead by the solid republican blocks voteing against the democrats plan. The rinos wern't needed. When they're needed you can count on Lindsey Graham to put together a group to make...

Care Versus Control

We are allready being treated by MD's who have never seen us before. When you enter many hospitals, your MD has no privledges, you are turned over to a Hospitalist who is there to protect the hospital from law suits. Your physician may visit but has no control of your treatment. The Treatment is determined by the MD hospitalist who will try to get you well and out of the hospital by following all of the hospitals rules and proceedures and takeing no risk at incuring litigation. Beaurocracy first, treatment 2nd.

Did half of the people reading this column know what they read? I saw no mention of NYC in it. One would think reading the replies that he had written a column trashing NYC.
