We now have a President that is an incredibly competent campaigner but who is an incredibly incompetent leader. He is the embodiment of the triumph of form over substance. The news conference was yet another example.

In response to a question along the lines of: "Are you responsible for this or is this the legacy of the Bush Presidency” Obama accepts full responsibility for not rooting out the Bush culture of incompetency at the MMS fast enough. It's brilliant campaigning but horrifying leadership.

We now have a President that acknowledges his responsibility for everything but takes responsibility for nothing. As a leader this is a prescription for disaster and the oil spill in this regard is the least of the country's...

President Obama used about an hour of his press conference yesterday trying to explain how - in spite of his handlers' having spent the past month trotting out the Secretary of the Interior, the Secretary of Homeland Security, and the Commandant of the Coast Guard to be the faces of the Gulf of Ocean oil spill - that he, Barack Obama, had been personally on top of this situation from the moment the drilling rig exploded until that very moment.
