A sure sign that someone is losing a debate, he accuses his opponent of lying. From my personal experience, and can say that as a missionary I was never asked to obfuscate, much less outright lie, to anyone. Which makes sense, of course - I was a missionary, spreading the Good News to people that would hopefully be welcomed into a lifelong fellowship. Lies make a very poor foundation for a long-term relationship.

When the former junior state senator from Chicago, one Barack Obama—a man no one knew diddly about—decided, “Hey, I’m gonna run for president!” people were eager to learn more about this promising upstart. Uncle Joe Biden was curious about Barack. Joe said at first blush that Obama seemed “clean” and “articulate,” which, I think, would be a hate crime if a conservative said that about him.
