During the last shutdown, the non-essential workers were sent home. When everything got straightened out, they went back to work and were paid back-pay for their time off!. They got a six-week vacation WITH PAY! The same thing will happen this time - NON-ESSENTIAL workers will get a paid vacation. Note: If he shutdown lasts long enough, they'll apply for and get unemployment checks and THEN get their back pay. Could this be why they're so zealous to shut things down and why they're 'working' to keep the citizens out during their time off??

McCain wasn't the candidate this time - you're just like all the other libtards - shooting off your mouth without a clue as to what you're talking about and totally oblivious to facts.

Trains to Nowhere

With the California high-speed rail project, people WILL be taking busses! To go from downtown LA or San Fran, you need to take a (50 mile) bus ride because the station downtown is not linked by rail to where the new high-speed terminal will be. So, you go to the downtown bus station (cab, have a friend take you, or drive and pay to park), take the bus (probably more than an hour ride) to the terminal, hop on the high-speed rail, get off, take another bus downtown, and voila, in a matter of 5 or 6 hours you have used the high-speed rail and 'saved the environment'. The flight between the two cities is about 1 hr 20 mins. Can't imagine a family of four schlepping luggage and kids on this 'adventure'. The reason they started it in the middle of nowhere is because the real estate they have to steal by 'eminent domain' is just too expensive. Most people envision it never being completed, but, it WILL create thousands of jobs that the California taxpayers will have to subsidize. Gov. Moonbeam has waived the EPA Environmental Impact Report requirements to expedite the construction. How's THAT for saving the environment? And due to unions (at least in LA), neither the high or low-speed trains will EVER go anywhere near the cruise ship terminals or the airport. It's not related to the high-speed rail argument, just thought I'd throw that in for good measure.

Progressives and Blacks

When you wrote: 'Here's a 19-year-old young lady, still in high school, who cannot read cursive and appears to be barely literate. ' you failed to mention that she was asked to read something that SHE SUPPOSEDLY HAD WRITTEN. It had been presented to the court as a letter from her describing what an angel Trayvon Martin had been and that the world was a much sadder place without him in it. Hmmm, smacks of fraud to me. First you write a letter, in cursive, then you can't read it because you haven't been trained in cursive. Sounds like ebonics - they never teach it in school ('cept in Oakland) yet all the blacks speak it fluently.

Great Post!
David IF what you say ('...no connection between homosexuality and pedophilia...') is fact, how do you explain NAMBLA? Are we to believe that these grown men aching to be with young boys are NOT homosexual?

As the economy collapses these $15/hr workers will get laid off but not to worry, their unemployment checks will be considerably larger! Then the taxpayers will be the ones footing the bill. Why is it that some people can come up with what they think is a brilliant idea but they don't have the ability/inclination to think it through to consider all the consequences?
