Immigration has passed the point of no return. Hispanic votes are a deciding factor in elections. Hispanics on the whole vote Democrat, so more is better from the Democrat point of view. Democrats win elections, bring in more immigrants, get more votes, win elections, etc. Republican opposition serves only to cement Hispanic loyalty to Democrats. This loyalty is the weak point in the victory loop that Democrats currently enjoy. Family unfriendly Democrat policies are Hispanic unfriendly. Affirmative action policies cut both ways, and don't net out to a plus for Hispanics. Educational nightmares resulting from putting teachers' unions first are Hispanic unfriendly. The list is long.

Random thoughts on the passing scene:

I can't get excited by the question of whether Senator Robert Menendez had sex with a prostitute in Central America. It is her word against his -- and when it comes to a prostitute's word against a politician's word, that is too close to call.
