The occupiers are people that want the big government gravy train to run faster and faster because they plan to be in charge one day. The occupiers have plans to be the biggest beneficiaries of big government spending, with comfortable federal jobs and contracts, while claiming they are for helping the less fortunate.

Think a little deeper. It does not take a multi-million dollar income to be in the 1%. It takes something like $338,000 to be in the 1%. Government statistics do not tell us how many of the residents are in the 1%, but the assumption is reasonable. When the median income is the highest in the land, it stands to reason that there is a larger percentage of 1% folks living there than anywhere else. The fact is that a family with two federal employees earning near the top of the pay scale is a 1% family. The fact is that Washington is surrounded by millionaire salaried lobbyists, lawyers and others that are part of the 1% precisely because they are part of the pro-big government liberal crowd.

No, the liberals are two-faced because their stated goal is to help the less fortunate when their real goal is to live an upper income life supplying and running big government programs. It is not two-faced to want to help the less fortunate. It is two-faced to use the poor to enrich yourself.

The Occupiers are not young people struggling to get by. These are the sons and daughters of liberals that plan to be running the country in the near future. Last thing these young people want is for the average Americans to reject the big government programs that they want to run.

Many Democrats are not interested in training a child in the way he should go so that he can be a successful adult. They want the child to be forever dependent, forever a ward of the Democrat plantation. It has worked for decades. Why should the Democrats change now?

I think there is an important factor here that is not being mentioned. While basic skills are always valuable, technology is always changing and often requires very specific training and experience. Strong basic skills mean very little to experienced technology workers compared to the relevance of their recent experience. A lot of technology workers switch to non-technical fields at some point in their career because it can be almost impossible to keep your skills relevant for decades while raising a family and enduring a job that requires periodic transfers and significant traveling. Progressives get almost everything wrong. First, they blame poor academic performance of black kids on external factors when anyone with a little common sense knows it is primarily an internal attitude problem. Everyone knows we cannot eliminate the frustration other people bring to our lives, but we can overcome almost anything with a good attitude. Second, they think the best punishment is time-out when anyone with a little common sense knows requiring students to do some productive menial labor would be better punishment, teach them about work, give them a small sense of accomplishment, and motivate them to change their behavior. This list could go on and on and on. Progressives are dangerous, self-worshipping fools.

I continue to be amazed at how corrupting power can be, and how people can be so blind to their own enormous inadequacies. I see so little difference between so many of our politicians and professional con men. Both use deception and unmitigated gall to take advantage of other people. The secret of the great con man and so many of our politicians is that they are so amazingly ignorant of the enormous destruction that they cause to other people's lives.

Taxes that do not help the country become more productive lower the average standard of living, and as we see today, it is the average guy's wages that are hurt the most. It bothers me that people are self destructively ignorant. It makes me very angry that political leaders and political economists purposely mislead people into believing that more government is good as long as someone else is thought to be paying the taxes. When will people learn that when you vote to tax your neighbor, you also have often voted for him to pay you less for your services.

Given that older Americans generally have more financial resources than younger ones, why are there so many senior discounts? The boomers have funded a comfortable retirement for their parents. A retirement that most of us will never enjoy. Except for those with a government employee pension, most boomers are going to retire much later and with much less than their parents.
