You should correct that to say they don't "openly acknowledge". They clearly know the truth - the reason they don't want the minions to have guns is so that they can act and govern without limits, including any of those pesky armed revolutionaries. The operative word in gun control is "control". The idea of Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama or Joe Biden making decisions about my life makes my skin crawl.
Hammers killed more people in 2011 than assault weapons. 496 to 323. Let's outlaw the damn things!
God that is scary! Wonder if it's the water?
No, actually, it is not. Racist means that you have both the prejudice associated with a person of a different race, and the power to do something to that person. Obama is the chief racist in the world, for example, using ultimate power to steal, by force, from the productive to give to his cronies and those of his chosen race. Georgetwin, not so much. I live in New Orleans. We never say the race of the guy who did the drive by last night - but everyone knows. The KKK was barely a threat at all to blacks, in comparision to city gangs.
If they were anything more than opportunists, and cared at all about "the children", do you think they would remain silent while we abort millions of children annually, and Obama blows up 100s of them with his drones? Come on.
Sorry, self diagnosis is unacceptable here. And you misspelled nefarious. You also speak too broadly about motives of progressives. Are you saying they don't have them, or they only have good intentions? If the latter, how are they different than, say, Mao, who also claimed to have good intentions? Are we to judge these central planners, who believe they know more and better how to live our lives than we do, and that liberties are wasted on us, based on their actions or their claimed intentions? Just asking. I do like your quote "Obama and progressives, who are clearly NUTS." I agree.
The majority of folks on the respective coasts just don't get it, and never will, because they live stacked on top of each other in fear, they have sold their souls to government, and the most conservative among them is a fake. I feel sorry for the real people who are forced to live among them, but I am sorry even more for the country as these goons are increasingly successful at taking over. As Ransom said today, Christie is not the governor of the US. I might add, neither is Cuomo, nor is Bloomberg the nation's mayor. They are all, to one degree or another, statists, perhaps fascists. They are welcome, of course, to come down South, get in the woods, and try to take my firearms. I give even the testy fat one only about 5 minutes.
It is not uncommon for folks to give too much credit to government as conspirators. What really happens is the famous Emanuel quote - "Never waste a crisis". That is what is happening - they see momentum and seize the day. All fascists have done that for decades - that is why no one stopped Hitler or Mussolini - they sounded right. Central planners believe they know best and that they would never abuse the power they grant themselves. They continue down that path, screwing up free markets and general liberty, and all of a sudden they have absolute power and evil intent. That is not a conspiracy, that is human nature. Millions have been murdered as a result, and in every case, at some point guns were outlawed and confiscated.
20 stories, I think. Very few politicians in Washington are willing to risk reelection in order to do the right thing. None seem willing to cut spending. We are going downhill until they run out of other people's money, and the only difference between the two big government parties is the pace of that - one is a slow jog, the other a sprint. I wouldn't even bother to pee on any of them.
I'm sorry, was this article supposed to make sense? I didn't get it. I think I know the point he wanted to make, but a bad analogy and too many assumptions about what was in the final "cliff" package made for a very clumsy piece.

Bush spent too much, of course, but comparatively, he was a miser. Obama knows no limit- he would spend 2T over our revenue as long as he could buy votes. He is not only a lousy leader, good only at campaigning, but he is irresponsible with the public purse, and takes care of his friends - crony capitalists and unions - while driving us off the precipice from which we can never recover. Clinton tax rates are fine, if you also give us the Clinton budget, Clinton's wars, and Clinton's economy (which, of course, was Gingrich's economy). I am so tired of reading stupid clap trap from stupid people who haven't a clue what they are talking about. These are the people who elect Democrats, who want us, quite simply, to be Greece.
