Conservatives, please try to understand that your value system has just forcibly been imposed on a large group of people who do not share your values, and at least try to be gracious.

"our value system has just forcibly been imposed on a large group of people"... it's this kind of thinking that is so incorrect and WRONG. Nothing has been FORCED on people. It's the other way around! And it has been stopped. The 'force' comes from the other side.

say what? how large is the homogroup?

arent you the ones who claim it is only 2% of the population?

then, it was VOTED on by a DEMOCRACY!

arent you for democracy? the will of the people and all?

As opposed to your value system being forcibly imposed on them? Any distinction made on the basis of who is 'right' is specious and contrary to the very notion of some not forcing their value system on another that you presume to champion. I understood Liberals to believe that veracity of cultures are relative and one cannot condemn another.

I hope you are being sarcastic. You can't possibly expect rational people to be apologetic about rejecting the oxymoron of homosexual "marriage." Pink Swastikas and their braindead supporters owe an apology to the entire world for trying to exploit and the timeless and sacred institution of marriage to advance their militant homosexual agenda.

How in the world can your ignorance lead you to that ridiculous conclusion.

First, NOTHING has "forcibly been imposed" on anyone! Nothing was taken away from anyone! Get it?

In other words, NOTHING CHANGED!! The 99% have spoken....

I thinks it's more like 60%. And yes, something has been imposed. A vision of marriage as primarily a child-production facility, and a vision of society as being composed of many such facilities.

Oh, you mean the "vision of marriage" as it's existed for thousands of years?

That's the "vision of society" you're talking about?

I get it now....

1. Marriage has not been a static institution for 1000s of years. Read a book on the topic if you don't believe me. I would recommend Marilyn Yalom's _A History of the Wife_. 2. There are lots of traditions that we change because they are incompatible with civil liberties. For example, there is a long, many thousand year old tradition of denying the full personhood of women. But we have tried to change that, why? Because just because something is a tradition doesn't make it good.

North Carolina voters, an important election 2012 swing state demographic, have approved a constitutional amendment that bans gay marriage and defines marriage as between one man and one woman. The amendment also bans civil unions. More from the National Journal:

The Associated Press declared Amendment 1 passed. With 39 percent of precincts reporting, the measure has 58 percent support.

The vote came as President Obama has been facing criticism from his base for not coming out in favor of gay marriage, even as several of his Cabinet officials have expressed support. The most recent...
