1st of all, the soak-the-"rich" rhetoric was a smokescreen & diversion from the real issue of the size & scope of government, & the explosive growth in $pending including on basically payoffs to supporters & cronies, as well as further expanding the dependent gimme electorate. 2nd of all, it's just an opening act. Notice that the so-called "rich" here really aren't; by & large they earn hi incomes for doing demanding jopbs few can do. The Demagogues basically are severing the fundamental relationship between earning & getting, a basic foundation of morality. They posit a bogus definition of "fairness" that ignores what is done to earn such hi incomes & claims that large income disparities between the doers & the do-nots are immoral per se.

Sounds a bit like slavery. Making the producers pull the wagon of freeloaders at the point of a gun.

I thought Libs were against slavery?

What they really are after is the right of the elite ruling class (themselves) to arbitrarily confiscate & parcel out everything as they please for their own empowerment, to reward friends & punish adversaries just like the Roman emporers or the kings of Persia.
Virtually everything they do & obsess over is about that, or about deconstructing traditional society to facilitate it. E.g. Global Warming? It's all about redistributing energy, not reducing CO2.

Even the focus on upper middle class hi-earners is disengenuous. We already know they don't have enough to cover Demmie $pending. There isn't enough $$$ in the universe for that. Howard Dean has just come out admitting that EVERYONEs' taxes will have to rise. Duh!

Some would call this an Aristocracy, but make no mistake,it was politicians that repealed
Glass-Steagall of 1933 & replaced it with Gramm-Leach-Bliley of 1999. Read the 1933 law,do
so with something to hold your jaw in place. It will make anyone with 1/2 a lick of sense pull
their hair out, asking why,WHY? What we're heading towards is a Plutocracy. Read about

We are still borrowing more than $1 trillion a year. Barack Obama has added more than $5 trillion to the national debt in just his first term alone. Such massive borrowing is unsustainable. Someone somehow at some time has to pay it back.

Obama would agree. He once alleged that George W. Bush's much smaller deficits were "irresponsible" and "unpatriotic." Obama himself vowed to cut the budget deficit in half by the end his first term. Instead, Obama's annual deficits have never gone below $1 trillion.

Three ways to establish a long-term trajectory toward a balanced budget were under...
