If government $pending actually produced real prosperity (not bubbles) there would never be anything BUT endless prosperity & economic growth. Keynesianism has been discredited,but since it justifies the elite political class doing what it wants ($pending), they love it & subscribe to it. What you just described is what I call pseudo-Keynesianism, the notion government $pending stimulates the economy ipso facto, the more the better. And you're correct to say that's what they do & it doesn't work as promised.
